Groundbreaking C-Rates

Hybrid supercapacitors' high C-rates up to 10C represent a significant breakthrough in energy storage technology. A C-rate of 1C means the device can fully charge or discharge in one hour, while a C-rate of 5C means it can do so in just 12 minutes. This far surpasses the capabilities of traditional batteries. Most lithium cells will degrade rapidly if used over .6C cutting the life from 8,000 to below 3,000 cycles.

Our hybrid supercapacitors are capable of over 50,000 complete discharges. Less than 80% discharges are not considered a cycle with a supercapacitor. In applications where less than 80% of the capacity is used, even rapidly, we are expecting over a million cycles, just like a traditional capacitor.

These devices leverage both electrostatic and electrochemical energy storage mechanisms, enabling them to charge and discharge rapidly without degrading performance. By combining the rapid transport capabilities of capacitive materials with the high energy storage of battery-like electrodes, hybrid supercapacitors can manage quick charge and discharge cycles more efficiently than traditional systems.

This makes them ideal for applications requiring quick energy bursts and frequent cycling, such as electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. The high C-rate enhances efficiency, reducing energy loss and enabling longer lifespans compared to traditional batteries.

Hybrid supercapacitors can also be kept at 100% charge indefinitely with no degradation of life and can achieve 100x the cycle life of a lithium battery.
