Hybrid supercapacitors are an innovative energy storage solution designed with safety and sustainability in mind. Unlike traditional batteries that often contain hazardous materials, hybrid supercapacitors utilize non-toxic components, making them safe for both users and the environment while offering groundbreaking charge and discharge rates.

The current rate of lithium production is not enough to keep up with growing demand for stored energy. Supercapacitors, however, are made of graphene, a derivative of carbon. It is plentiful and requires no mining, making it a green solution. 

The unique design of hybrid supercapacitors also eliminates the risk of flammability, reducing safety concerns associated with energy storage. Hybrid supercapacitors are asymmetric devices comprising a Li-doped graphite anode (-) and an activated carbon cathode (+). The use of an EDLC cathode eliminates the presence of metal oxides, the catalyst for thermal runaway. Because capacitors do not rely on a chemical redox process, there is no possibility of the thermal runaway that exists in a chemical battery.
